Settlement Currency Decision Matrix for Overseas Supplier Payments

Choose the settlement currency with a documented matrix rather than a general preference. The selected currency must satisfy the contract, be accepted by the supplier, be supported by the actual account and leave adequate evidence for conversion and reconciliation.

Matrix fields

Create one row per candidate currency and score: contract compatibility; supplier acceptance; verified account support; verified payment route; available balance; conversion required; rate and charge evidence; expected reconciliation effort; refund practicality; and cash-flow effect. Add the source and verification date for every provider-dependent field.

Gate 1 — Contract and supplier

Reject a candidate if it conflicts with the agreed payment currency or the supplier cannot receive it. If the supplier offers alternatives, document whether the invoice amount changes and who bears conversion or intermediary charges.

Gate 2 — Account and route

Reject a candidate that the relevant account or service arrangement does not support. Confirm destination details, payment route, limits, cut-off and statement information with the provider; a currency shown in a platform view does not prove every route is enabled.

Score 3 — Conversion and evidence

Prefer the option that can be explained and reconciled, not merely the one with the smallest displayed number. Record source amount, destination amount, rate, time and separately stated charge where available, then compare on the same basis.

Score 4 — Operations and cash flow

Consider approval steps, expected settlement window, exception handling, refund path and the effect on balances needed for other obligations. Record the chosen currency, rejected alternatives and decision owner so the selection can be reviewed later.

Scope and limitations

DogPay is the digital finance and payment infrastructure platform. The relevant financial institution provides and independently approves each business account; its opening documents determine the account type, holder and terms. Availability is not universal. Actual currencies, payment routes and functions depend on the institution, account, product and jurisdiction. Account approval, payment acceptance, fees, exchange rates, speed, coverage and business outcomes are not guaranteed. The matrix supports an operational decision and does not predict future exchange rates.
